Green transformation in Serbia is the process of transitioning to sustainable economic and social practices that reduce the negative impact of human activities on the environment, promote circular processes and social equality. Green entrepreneurship and the green economy play a key role in this process through the development of innovative products and services, the application of technologies with a smaller ecological footprint and the creation of new, environmentally responsible jobs.
Practical examples in Serbia illustrate different approaches. The Connect Clean Roma Group recycling cooperative in Ada integrates Roma waste collectors into the formal recycling process and produces high-quality copper and aluminum granules, while promoting social inclusion. The Tumbas Aćimović family in Sombor is building a self-sufficient ecotourism facility using green construction from natural materials, combining ecological and educational goals. The young design couple Metafora Studio from Novi Sad is applying the principle of slow fashion by redesigning vintage clothing, reducing textile waste and the ecological footprint of the industry.
These examples show that innovation in the green transition does not come only through state strategies, but also through local initiatives, startups and civic activism. A sustainable green transition requires the integration of environmental, social and technological aspects, whereby every individual, entrepreneur or community can contribute to creating a more just and environmentally responsible future.
