About the project
China’s growing influence on European politics, economy, and security poses new challenges for the EU. While the need for a joint European strategy toward China is evident, there has been no platform effectively connecting decision-makers, experts, and analysts across Europe to exchange knowledge and experience.
The aim of the project is to organizes the 5th Annual European China Conference, the biggest China conference in Europe, connecting new and established China experts and providing space to identify joint approaches for European China policy. The conference fosters long-term collaboration between policy, business, and academic experts and strengthens knowledge sharing and consensus-building.
The off-the-record by-invitation-only conference brings together high-level political leaders, ministers, state secretaries, corporate representatives, and think-tank experts. The program includes plenary sessions, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and expert briefings.
The conference, held on 26 November 2025, is organized by the China team of the Association for International Affairs (AMO), the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), and the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), with financial support from Stiftung Mercator.
