International law in armed conflicts: Members of the Network of Women spoke with political scientist and Islamologist Zora Hesová
2023 was one of the most violent years since the end of the Cold War. Today's armed conflicts disproportionately impact and in some cases even appear to target civilian populations. What role does international law play in today's world? And what should a feminist response to armed conflict look like?
Members of the Network of Women in Czech Foreign, European and Security Policy discussed these and other questions with Zora Hesová, a political scientist and Islamologist from the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University in Prague.
At the September meeting, traditionally held at the residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Prague, the women discussed, among other things, the topic of the year-long war and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and its perception in the Czech public sphere.
The meeting was also devoted to feminist foreign policy and the need for a critical and coherent foreign policy that respects human rights and enables global cooperation on the challenge presented by climate change.
