Profile

Šimon Sládek is a research fellow for AMO focusing on the Middle East, particularly the Maghreb countries, Egypt, and Sudan.


He is a master's student in Middle Eastern Studies, with a specialization in Arabic Studies, at Charles University, Faculty of Arts. He studied the same subject alongside Sociology in his bachelor's program, during which he completed a language course in Egypt. He has a long-standing interest in the politics of North African countries; his bachelor's thesis focused on the Egyptian regime's discourse on the war in Gaza. He is currently assisting in a Charles University research project (im)vision, which focuses on the possibilities for political transformation in the Middle East. He is a leader of a Boy-Scout group in Prague.
