Institute of Asian Studies together with AMO and Central and Eastern European Center for Asian Studies cordially invites you to attend a public debate on Chinese influence in Central Europe.
Currently, the geopolitical importance of Central Europe reflects dominant security issues such as migration and reactions thereto, or the European Union’s relations to Russia. However, recently the region has become increasingly attractive to Chinese investors, often with direct links to the Chinese state. Based on an analysis of over 7,700 media pieces in three languages we investigated where do the information about China that we have come from, who creates the media image of China, and what is this image like. Thanks to comparative nature of the project, it is possible to determine how individual countries deal with Chinese activities in Central Europe and what strategy is China using in these countries.
A debate will include presentation of a new policy paper Central Europe for Sale.
