Workshop for Serbian journalists in Prague
As part of the AMO project aimed at strengthening the capacity of independent media in Serbia to map foreign influences, ten Serbian journalists from four independent media outlets (BIRN, Danas, Demostat, Istinomer) visited Prague.
The two-day program began with a visit to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main partner of the project, where they discussed the media situation in Serbia with Deputy Minister Jan Marian and his colleagues. They then participated in two educational workshops: one on international cooperation and funding in investigative journalism with Pavla Holcová (Investigace.cz), and another on journalistic security in cyberspace with Lukáš Horák (AMO/UNOB). During their trip, they also visited the editorial office of Respekt weekly, where they discussed the practical functioning of independent media with Deputy Editor-in-Chief Ondřej Kundra, and the headquarters of Radio Free Europe, where they debated with the Balkan editorial team about the challenges they face in their work in Serbia.
During their visit, the Serbian journalists also participated in a roundtable on foreign influences in Serbia, where they presented topics they have been working on as part of the project to representatives of Czech government and non-government institutions. The visit was supported by the Transition Promotion Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
