Ladislav Miko is a soil biologist, environmentalist and educator. Since the inauguration of President Pavel, he has been his advisor on environmental issues, and since 2020 he has been the government’s envoy for international negotiations on biodiversity and ecosystem services. He is a former Czech Minister of Environment (2009) and has held key positions in the Czech Ministry of Environment and the European Commission. He has led major international negotiations on biodiversity and climate. Passionate about environmental education, he is president of the international film festival Ekofilm and an advocate for soil protection, sustainable agriculture and landscape restoration. He is a professor at the University of Antwerp and Charles University in Prague.
