A photography exhibition Surviving between Trash, with slogan What is Trash for You Is Life for Me, was taking place on December 9th 2009 in bar Krasny ztraty, Naprstkova street 10, Prague 1. Sebastian Arias Zuluaga, a Colombian student from GLP (Global Leadership Program) at Anglo American University in Prague presented and commented the reality of the city of Cali, Colombia, where one of the most extensive industrial waste disposal site had been situated. The aim was to show a phenomenon of so-called recicladores – communities in Latin America which are living from what the others consider waste and garbage.

The pictures were taken by seven photographers, including Sebastian and his thesis partner Carolina Montoya, who talked about the hard life of people who have been picking trash from the streets around Cali, which is the third largest city in Colombia, for more than thirty years.
