Association for International Affairs in cooperation with Forum 2000 Foundation organized a public discussion on Constitutional Reforms and Democracy in Latin America.
The panel on Constitutional Reforms and Democracy that took place in the framework of the 13th Forum 2000 Conference (October 11 – 13, 2009) analyzed the character of the recent constitutional reforms and their relation to the democracy in the countries of Central and South America. The composition of the panelists proceeding provided a great array of perspectives enriched with the personal experience and knowledge of the national and regional background.

The panelists mainly discussed reasons and impacts of constitutional reforms in Latin America. They also focused on realtions between democracy and character of constitutions of Latin American countries or differences between formally established human rights and their actual respect. Question of populism was also raised.
