The conference Middle-Income Trap in V4 Countries will present the results of the research project that focused on the comparison of distinct approaches of convergence to the economic level of the Western countries in four states of the Visegrad Group. Based on an analysis of the present state, the project emphasized the vision for the ensuring of economic growth in the near future when further economic convergence will not be possible only on the basis of competition through cheap workforce. It would require more diversified array of instruments including support for innovation in industry, development of the knowledge based economy, connecting science and research with the business sector and functioning of the public sphere and last but not least more active involvement of household savings to the general output of economy.

• How to avoid slow down of the economic growth and obviate the middle-income trap?
• Is it possible to reach functional coordination of the economic policies on regional basis in the time of global production chains?
• What is the appropriate combination of the activity of the private and public sectors for the attainment of the future economic growth?
