High-level conference organized under the auspices of Milan Štěch, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, and Martin Stropnický, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Association for International Affairs (AMO) in cooperation with the Senate of the Czech Republic, U.S. Embassy in the Czech Republic and the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic will commemorate the 100th anniversary of foundation of the modern Czechoslovak state this year. The United States played a pivotal role in the quest of Central European nations for their freedom and independence. It was the leadership of President Woodrow Wilson and sacrifices of American soldiers on European battlefields which helped bring down the Habsburg Monarchy and end World War I. The conference will serve both to remember the events of one hundred years ago, and to discuss the role of the United States in European security today.
